Treatment Options
Additional treatments for export and special requirements
Heat Treatment (HT)
Pallets heated to minimum 56°C core temperature for 30+ minutes. Required for export outside EU. Eliminates wood-boring pests.
Kiln Drying (KD)
Moisture content reduced to below 20%. Reduces weight, prevents mold, improves stability.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes an EPAL pallet different from a regular EUR pallet?
EPAL pallets are manufactured and repaired under license from the European Pallet Association. They carry official EPAL markings, are made to strict specifications (78 specific nails, exact dimensions, approved wood), and are part of the exchange pool system. A regular EUR-sized pallet may have the same dimensions but lacks the quality assurance, traceability, and pool acceptance.
Can I exchange EPAL pallets with any company?
Yes, EPAL certified pallets can be exchanged 1:1 between any companies participating in the European pallet pool. When you deliver goods on EPAL pallets, you receive equivalent EPAL pallets back. This system operates across all EU countries and many others.
How can I identify a genuine EPAL pallet?
Look for: 1) EPAL oval branding on corner blocks, 2) EUR marking on center blocks, 3) License number and date on blocks, 4) Correct construction (9 blocks, specific board pattern, chamfered edges), 5) Quality nails (not bent or protruding). Counterfeit pallets may look similar but often have construction flaws.
Do I need heat-treated EUR pallets?
Within the EU: No, standard EUR pallets are accepted. For export outside the EU: Yes, most countries require ISPM 15 heat-treated pallets. The HT pallets have an IPPC stamp indicating treatment. We can supply both standard and heat-treated EUR pallets.
How long do EUR pallets last?
With normal use, an EUR pallet typically lasts 5-10 years and can make 15-20+ trips through the supply chain. In a pooling system with professional repair, pallets circulate much longer. Lifespan varies by handling - indoor retail use is gentler than outdoor construction sites.
What is the weight limit for EUR pallets?
EUR-1 pallets support: 1500kg dynamic (forklift movement), 4000kg static (on floor), 1000kg racking (on beams). These are maximum figures assuming correct handling and evenly distributed loads. Overloading or point loads reduce safe capacity.
Can EUR pallets be used in automated warehouses?
Yes, EUR-1 pallets are designed for compatibility with standard racking systems and automated handling equipment. Their consistent dimensions (1200×800mm) are a European standard. For highly automated systems, we recommend Grade A or New pallets to ensure dimension consistency.
What grades of EUR pallets do you stock?
We stock all grades: New EPAL (€18-25), Grade A/Premium (€10-15), Grade B/Standard (€6-10), and Grade C/Economy (€3-6). Prices vary by quantity and location. Grade B is most popular, offering the best balance of quality and value for general use.
